Obituary
Camesia LaSundra McClary Simmons was born in Florence, South Carolina on July 27, 1976, to
James and Murdese McClary. She inherited a legacy of family, dedication, and courage.
Camesia, affectionately known as “Besa” and “CeCe,” departed this life on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Camesia graduated from Lake City High School in 1994. She was employed at McLeod Regional Medical
Center, doing what she did best, serving others by working as a medical-surgical technician.
Camesia was faith-filled and accepted Christ in her life at a young age. A willing worker, she was a
member of the historic Greater St. James A.M.E. Church where she served on Steward Board No. 1, in the
Women’s Missionary Society, and on the Kitchen Committee; and she volunteered at the Y pee der's of the
Upper Pee Dee.
Camesia leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter Alexis McClary and a son RaShaad Simmons Loving
and devoted parents, James and Murdese McClary of Lake City, SC; three sisters: Neketa McClary of
Brooklyn, NY; Kimberly (Alvin) Ward of Florence, SC; and QuWanza (Harry) Dickerson of Johnsonville, SC;
and a brother Dameron McClary and his companion, Channing Myers; a special friend Sylvester Redden
and family of Florence, SC; uncles Jerry (Deirdre) Alford of Atlanta, GA; Linwood Alford of Lake City, SC;
James Alford of Raleigh, NC; Ronald Alford of Lake City, SC; and Mitchell Jr. (JoAnn) Alford of Lake City,
SC; aunts KaSunder Alford of Brooklyn, NY; Shirley (Johnnie) Fulton of Miami, FL; Betty (Curt) White of
Miami, FL; Odell McClary of Miami, FL; Odette McClary of Miami, FL; Coral (Marcus) Johnson of
Pennsylvania; Janet Gordon of Lake City, SC; Alice Tisdale of Philadelphia, PA; Christina Alford of Lake
City, SC; Patricia Alford (and son Ronald) of Lake City, SC; great aunts and uncles Dorothy Wilson of
Winston Salem, NC; Lilly (Richard) Bird of Winston Salem, NC; Geraldine (Andrew) Jackson of Winston
Salem, NC; Louise McClam, Jr. of Winston Salem, NC; James McClam of Augusta, GA; James McClary of
Pennsylvania; and Tracey McClary of Miami, FL; bonus parents Harry (Kate) Anderson of Lake City, SC;
and Mary Washington of Lake City, SC; bonus sisters Janeen Anderson of Lake City, SC; Brenda
Washington of Lake City, SC; and Sherry (Donell) Snow of Hemingway, SC; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends, including her McLeod health care work family.
Camesia's grandparents Mitchell (Wilhelmina) Alford and Jury (Esther) McClary, of Lake City, SC, and
uncle Jerome McClary preceded her in death.
