Fred Lee Barr was born in Florence County, Florence, S.C. He was educated in the public school of
Scranton Elementary School and Lake City, South Carolina. He graduated from City High School in 1972.
He was preceded in death by McKinley Barr(father) and Lonzie Bell Barr(mother), McKinley Barr (Pete)Jr.
his brother, Queen Elisabeth Smith(sister) and Shirley Jean Hanna (Sister). Fred leaves to carry on his
legacy five siblings, one brother Nathaniel (Sonny) Barr and four sisters, Emma Lee Wesley(Curtis), Carrie
Bradford (Derric), Rebecca (Tinnie) McCray, and Katie Smalls(Chester)
”One day, I was at school and did not have money for my lunch. Fred came up and gave me his lunch
ticket and walked away. He went without lunch for himself for me. “Fred would do yard work all day for
four dollars and take the wages to buy supper for his family. He kept nothing for himself. He was
dedicated to his family. This is the type person he was, selfless and not selfish. Fred always carried
himself with respect and integrity. He was known by his friends in school as “Professor” Carrie Bradford
