On late Saturday night, July 4, 2021, Leona “Snuke” Robinson went home peacefully to
be with her Heavenly Father. She was born on August 18, 1951, in Florence County, South
Carolina to the late Mr. Buster and Mrs. Annie Bell Brown-Robinson. Leona was a 1969
graduate of Carver High School, Lake City, SC.
During her school years, she played basketball, and she was also student bus driver .
for Florence County School District Three. Leona, was always known as a “Daddy’s
Girl.” Upon graduating from high school, she was an aspiring Master Barber, following in the
footsteps of her beloved father, the late Buster Leon Robinson, who was once the owner of
Robinson’s Barber Shop of Lake City, SC. As life has its way, she chose a longtime career in
Administration with the Lake City Housing Authority where she served numerous families in
need of housing for many years. Later in life, she assisted Green’s Funeral Home part-time as an
Administrative Assistant.
At an early age she accepted our Lord as her personal Savior and joined Greater Saint
James A.M.E. Church of Lake City, SC where she was a dedicated member of Class #3 for many
years, served on the Usher Board and supported other church organizations. Leona was always
known to be very stylish and well put together at any given time. In her spare time, she enjoyed
being a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Robinson-Daniels, Mary Alice Robinson-
McFadden and one brother, Leo Robinson. She leaves to cherish fond memories of a loving
family: One sister, Mae Francis (Grady) Goodman, Florence, S.C. Two brothers, Jimmy
Robinson of Lake City, S.C. and Casey Robinson of Swansboro, N.C. One sister-in-law, Ruby
H. Robinson of Lake City, S.C. A niece who was the apple of her eye, Ashley L. Robinson of
Columbia, S.C., and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
