Mrs. Lula Mae (Singletary) Barnes 96 years old passed away in Florence, South Carolina,
Wednesday, November 2, 2022, she was a devoted wife to the late Albert Louis Barnes.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Lake City, South Carolina in the county of Florence, October 1, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her legendary son Marvin J. Barnes. She is also survived by her
beloved daughter Alfreda L. Barnes (Robinson).

Jacki Fagnant whom she loved dearly and accepted as her own daughter.
She also leaves a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many dear and loyal friends.
Mrs. Barnes graduated from Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina, and went on to
graduate from a four-year college, receiving various awards and honors throughout her lifetime.
She was employed at Rhode Island Medical Center as a Psychiatric Supervise Attendant from
March 14, 1965, until July 28, 1990, where she retired. Then she came out of retirement and was
offered a job personally by the Director from John Hope Settlement House, working with
children for the next 15 years! Then she finally decided after much thought and deliberation to
permanently retire. She was also a foster parent for 20 years. She was a devoted and dedicated
mother and foster parent, she was also loved and highly respected by everyone that was blessed
to be in her presence, Mrs. Lula Mae Barnes was a living “Angel” to say the least.
She will be truly missed.
