Mary Spates Obituary

Our Heavenly Father in His infinite wisdom saw
fit to call from this world of life Mrs. Mary Lee
Spates on July 8th at 12:24p.m. at the home of
her loving daughter Sharon Spates Miller and
all of her loved ones at Mary’s bedside when
the Lord called MaryLee to the other side of the
Jordan river.
MaryLee was born April 28th 1940 to the late
Deacon Woodrow Williams and Deaconess
Beatrice(Tootie) Favor Williams.
 
MaryLee accepted Jesus Christ as her personal
Lord and Savior at an early loving age.
MaryLee received her formal education in the
public schools of Lexington County South
Carolina.
 
After high school MaryLee decided to venture to
New York City with her cousins to live and work.
 
There in the bright busy city of New York is
where she met her husband. On July 4th 1960
MaryLee was joined in Holy Matrimony to
Ulysses (Heavy) Spates. To this union, two
daughters were born Denise and Sharon a son
Anthony. An oldest daughter Linda and another
son Johnny Lee.
 
After spending a number of years in New York
City the family relocated back to her husband’s
hometown of Lake City South Carolina. There
MaryLee was gainfully employed at Tupperware
Manufactory Company in Timmonsville South
Carolina where she worked in the Packing and
Receiving Department for 20 years and retired.
 
Marylee joined Hickory Grove Methodist Church
that later became Faith United Methodist
Church.While at Faith United Methodist Church
the passion and desire of MaryLee’s heart was
to serve others. She was most passionate
 
about enjoying life, spreading the joy of the
Lord.
 
MaryLee served on several committees while
attending Faith United Methodist Church until
her health started to fail her. She was a
member of the Faith United Methodist Gospel
Choir, Youth Department Sunday School
Teacher, Representative for Epworth Children's
Home, Treasure for the United Methodist
Women Ministry,Nomination and Personnel
Committee, Pastor-Parish Relations Committee
and Faith Troop 370-372 GirlScouts Leader.
 
Sister MaryLee was preceded in death a
husband of 40 years Ulysses Spates her son
JonnyLee Williams, a loving mother Beatrice
(Tootie) Williams, father Woodrow Williams, two
loving sisters JohnnyMae Williams and
JessieLee Davis, a brother BobbySamuel
Williams.
 
Loved ones who will cherish her memories
forever are her loving daughters and son.

Eight grandchildren-Little Anthony,Desmond,
Jerrell,Jerome,Maceo, Matthew, Karime Carlos
Miracle
Fourteen great grandchildren along with a host
of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A special thank you to Shavona Davis, a loving,
caring CNA and family member who helped
 
take care of GiGI daily during her illness. You
were moma’s shining star!!
We also want to thank the Capital
Care(Hospice) Team for their medical and
professional care of our mother MaryLee
Spates.
