Gurtie Bell Reardon was born on November 16, 1933 in New Zion, South
Carolina to the late Reverend Eugene Reardon and Eula Lee Fleming Reardon.
She spent most of her days working as a domestic caregiver caring for loved
ones and babysitting. She was a faithful member of Saint Stevens Baptist
Church in Lake City, South Carolina and loved the Lord and gospel music. In her
spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing quilts and blankets, gardening, and
spending time with family and friends. She was the true epitome of grace,
strength, beauty and wisdom and a matriarch to so many. Her laugh was
infectious and genuine and she always greeted you with a big warm smile. A
hard worker and always fearless.
On the early morning of Friday, January 7th, 2022, the angels of death came to
the Commander Nursing Home in Florence, South Carolina and called her from
this world of pain and sorrow to a world of eternal life.
Two sisters proceeded her in death Bernice Readion and Mary Delores Redden.
She leaves to cherish two children Gracie L. Reardon of Maryland and Frederick
Anthony Redden of South Carolina, two sisters Willie Mae Broadnax and
Elizabeth Ann Reardon both of Washington, DC., two nieces Lillie Cassandra
Redden, Agnes Virginia Burgess, and one nephew Gregory Readion, 7
grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and dear
friends.
