Obituary

Stephanie Darlene Jones was born on July 22, 1959 to the late
Sarah E. Jones Clinton and Willie Joe Brown. She went home to
be with her Lord and Savior on March 24, 2020 at her residence
from a sudden illness. She is preceded in death by her first
husband David Kratzke.
Stephanie and her family attended church in the community
where they lived. At an early age she was baptized and became
a member of St. Mark Holiness Church. She was educated in
the Florence County Public School System and graduated from
Lake City High School on May 31, 1977. In the Fall of 1977,
she enrolled at South Carolina State College. She graduated
in May of 1981, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Upon receiving her Degree, she headed to New York. She taught
school in New Jersey for one year, where she quickly learned that
teaching kids was not the job for her. She then began a 20 year
career with the City of New York as a Social Worker. She was
extremely knowledgeable of the Medicare/Medicaid System as
it applied to her cases. Through her hard work, dedication and
willingness to learn about the system and how it worked, she
was promoted to the position of Deputy Director. She worked ln
Miami Gardens, Florida for one year and returned to New York.
She then worked for AFLAC as an Accident and Health Insurance
Broker and FEMA as a Community Relations Specialist. Upon
her death she was employed with Stay At Home Solutions.
Stephanie traveled to many places, where her “Heart of Gold”
was felt in Africa. She was a humanitarian and supporter for the
underprivileged throughout her travels. She sponsored clothes
and school supply drives for communities in Africa. After her
second trip to the country, she once considered moving there
after retirement. She volunteered her gift of service to her
church, St. Matthews AME, in New York as well as her family
and community.
She is survived by Asem Noman of NY; Siblings - Ronald Jones
(Clarrusha) Hannah, Glen Allen, VA; Warren L. (Linda) Jones,
Fredericksburg, VA; Alton Clinton, Jamaica, NY; nephews
- Ronald, Alton, Steven; nieces – Nicole, Courtney, Leila; one
devoted Aunt – Mrs. Evelyn Eaddy; a host of cousins and friends.
She will be forever remembered as a compassionate soul who
NEVER MET A STRANGER.
